Simple Vanilla Hemp Milk at Home

Simple Vanilla Hemp Milk at Home

Make your own. It’s soooooo good.

There is nothing quite like homemade hemp milk — the cartons on the shelf at the store will never even get close to the fresh, creamy, natural flavor you get from doing it yourself! Our fresh hemp milk is made weekly and delivered to local stores in Hood River… there are never any preservatives! We make our hemp milk using the simplest of ingredients below. You can opt out of adding sweetness, but I personally like just a kiss of sweetness in my hemp milk. In fact, I make our vanilla flavor for the markets with just a touch of agave or dates, and most people say “oh I thought it was going to be sweet.”

We take things up a notch with our Chocolate flavor by adding real, raw, organic cacao. We tell people it’s chocolate milk for grownups. 😉

  • 1/2 cup hemp hearts
  • 32 oz water
  • dash of sea salt
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • (optional) pick-your-natural-sweetener: organic dates (2-4), agave syrup (2 tablespoons), maple syrup (2 tablespoons) or honey (2 tablespoons)

Blend these ingredients in a vitamix or other high-powered blender for 2 minutes.
Strain in a nut milk bag or fine strainer or not (see below on nut straining)
Pour in a jar or big bottle and refrigerate.
Keeps for up to 7 days.

Feel free to use this recipe as a base then add whatever additional flavors you want to personalize it to your liking! We do a seasonal hemp milk with blueberries, blackberries and even huckleberries! You don’t have to strain the milk unless you want the milk extra smooth, especially if feeding to babies. Otherwise, keep it unstrained for the extra omegas and nutrients you get from using the whole seed!
